Why Are Mobile Games So Bad Nowadays

The feeling of achievement when you finally solve a mobile game level is great. However, playing video games has a negative impact on students’ moral and psychological health. It leads to restlessness, impulsiveness, and violent behavior.

Mobile gaming is convenient because it doesn’t require a console or PC. It also allows you to play anywhere without worrying about your location.

Lack of originality

Mobile games have a reputation for being mindless and simple. They’re a great way to kill time while waiting for the bus or sitting in class, but gamers usually prefer more in-depth experiences. In fact, a lot of gamers avoid playing mobile games altogether because they believe that they lack originality.

The problem with mobile games is that they often focus on monetization rather than gameplay. Many of them feature advertisements and ‘pay-to-win’ elements that make the games unplayable without spending money. Players also get frustrated when they can’t progress in the game because of these limitations. This can lead to addiction.

Most of the time, developers and publishers choose to use well-known licenses in their titles. They think that people will automatically buy a game with a famous title or logo on it. However, this practice leads to a lack of originality in the industry. Small developers can’t afford to pay license fees, so they either copy gameplay from big titles or don’t even bother making a game at all.

The good news is that some mobile games are actually fun to play, but it’s hard to find them among the chaff. The industry needs to start focusing on originality and putting more effort into the gameplay experience. Otherwise, it’s unlikely that people will keep downloading and playing these games.

Oversaturated market

It’s no secret that mobile gaming is a big market. Games that were once limited to a few ‘Angry Birds’ and ‘Fruit Ninja’-esque titles have now spawned entire franchises and generate billions of dollars per year in revenue. But there’s a lot of competition out there and if you’re in the market for a new game, you’ll be overwhelmed by the options. This oversaturation is causing developers to create worse games in order to stand out and make their money back.

For example, there’s a lot of games that are “pay to win” which means you need to spend real money in order to keep playing. This is a popular way to monetize games, but it can also be frustrating for gamers. Especially since most mobile games are designed to be played in short bursts. It’s easy to become obsessed with a game and end up spending more time on it than you originally intended.

Another reason why many mobile games are bad is because they’re simply not fun. It’s no longer a novelty to play a game on a phone, so most people don’t want to put in the effort anymore. And the plethora of ads and greedy monetisation models only serve to frustrate gamers even further.

Lack of feedback

Many mobile games focus on monetization over game design, resulting in bare-bones experiences that fail to entice gamers. Gamers are accustomed to full, complex games that require skill and commitment. They are like people who are used to eating seasoned and spiced food that provides a lot of nutrients. When they eat something bland and unsatisfying, it won’t fill them up.

It’s no surprise that mobile gaming gets such a bad reputation. When actual gamers see mobile games, they assume that they are low-quality and not worth their time. This is partly because the average mobile game only lasts a few minutes, or even less. This is because it is meant to be a short-term distraction or a way to pass time while waiting for a bus or a friend.

However, the hardware in modern mobile devices is getting more sophisticated and developers are using it to create games that are as great as console titles. Take Monument Valley, for instance. This is a beautiful, minimalist puzzle game that shows what can be done with modern mobile devices.

While there are still bad mobile games out there, the industry is maturing and proving that it can compete with the best of them. There are plenty of reasons why mobile gaming has overtaken console and PC games, and it will continue to dominate the market in the future.

Lack of commitment

The mobile video game industry has long been a graveyard of cheap, derivative games. Even the few diamonds that are found in the dirt are quickly buried by an army of copycat software and are usually overdone within weeks. In 2019, 78 percent of the most downloaded new mobile games belong to a genre known as hyper-casual. These light, snackable games are designed to be played in short bursts, such as while waiting for a coffee or during the commute. While they are not necessarily bad, they have contributed to the image of mobile gaming as a low-quality form of entertainment.

In addition, many mobile games are free to play and often feature microtransactions or loot boxes. Because of this, gamers don’t feel like they need to invest a lot of time into the games that they play. Moreover, most users don’t care to complain about a game that they don’t like, since it can be easily replaced by another one.

This lack of commitment also contributes to the popularity of bad mobile games, as it makes people think that they don’t need to spend a lot of money on their entertainment. This is similar to how digital distribution made it easier for low-quality music to reach a large audience, and how it allowed developers with limited budgets to release their own games.
